After a busy weekend, I finally got to ride my new bike.
Nothing too exciting, just an eight mile commute on tarmac and gravel towpaths.
The first thing that I noticed was a noise while pedalling which I put down to the chain rubbing the front changer – I’d adjust that when I got to work.
The bike was responsive, accelerating quickly and turning in a good speed – a little quicker than the Carrera Subway.
I didn’t feel as though I had worked any harder but I got to work a few minutes quicker than the same ride a week or so ago (136W average for both).
It could just be that I’m getting fitter / better but the bike does feel nippier !
Post-work, I took a slightly longer than needed route home, along the Grand Union to Yardley then through Sheldon and past the end of the runway at Birmingham Airport.
From Marston Green, I followed the river to Chelmsley Wood before the rise to Bacons End from where I was only a mile or so from home.
Again, a little quicker than the last time I rode this route.
So far, I am quite impressed with the new stead – a definite improvement over the Subway.
