With my birthday (sixty three) on Sunday, I thought it would be a good idea to pick a different parkrun as a treat on the Saturday.
Without travelling too far, I chose Dudly as it is a mix of running track, open fields and canal towpath.
Then came Saturday morning and Storm Arwen which Brought high winds and unseasonal snow.
I, wisely, decided to check the Dudley parkrun Facebook page before setting off, only to discover …
Oh well, considering the weather this was probably wise. It’ll have to be a local one then. Let’s have a look …
The only other local event, Babbs Mill was going to conduct an inspection at 08:00 and would then decide.
Just after eight, Babbs Mill posted that they would be open – yah !
Babbs Mill is only about a mile away so I kitted up and started the walk over.
As I approached the venue, I could not see a lot of activity and as I walked up to the start I was told, “If you’ve come for parkrun – it’s cancelled!”
Apparently, about five minutes after I’d set off, they’d changed their mind and cancelled after all.
I exchange a few words with others who had not seen the latest post (well you probably wouldn’t if you were driving over!) before returning home via a slightly longer route to get some mileage in.
