Hundred Down

Another big walking event has been cancelled.

The LDWA annual one hundred mile event, Y 100 Sir Fynwy, due to be held in Wales has been postponed until 2021 due to the Coronavirus. The hundred mile events that were planned for the next three years have all been pushed back.

I was not taking part in this year’s Hundred but was planning on the 2021 event around the Peak District.

Now, I’m only guessing here, but I shouldn’t think that people already signed up to do the Y 100 Sir Fynwy will not need to re-qualify and will be automatically entered for 2021. Four hundred and thirty eight people have signed up and the maximum number allowed is five hundred so that leaves only sixty two places for others to join.

Also, considering that many, if not all, the qualifying walks, this year, may well be cancelled, it is going to be difficult to claim one of those sixty two places.

It’s still early days and the LDWA has not said much, so far, about the postponement. A lot may change.
