I was looking through various websites looking at upcoming events, when I came across the LDWA’s hundred for 2021.
The Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA) hold an organised one hundred mile walk every year. A few years ago, I tried the Dorset 100 starting (and finishing) near Weymouth. Unfortunately, it didn’t go too well and I dropped out after only forty miles.
To be able to enter, you need to show that you stand a good chance of completing the hundred miles and the LDWA has a list of qualifying events.
I considered the Bullock Smithy as a possible qualifier and then I noticed the Robothams Round Rotherham (RRR). I have done the RRR three times before so I should be able to do that yet again.
Last year the RRR was removed from the list as it didn’t allow enough time to walk the fifty miles. From this year, they have added a four a.m. start so it now qualifies as a qualifier.
In fact, four a.m. is probably a good time to start. I can drive down in the early hours and get straight on it. No hotel. No early rise. I’m going for it !
