Trying to keep up the momentum, I set out for a little walk from home this evening.
I followed a rather indistinct path along what is marked on the OS maps as Green Lane before cutting across a field to The Belt which led over the M42 to Gilson near Coleshill.
From the few houses that constitute Gilson, I was hoping to follow a footpath to Coleshill. However after about a hundred metres, I experienced that déjà vu moment (again!) …
Another route fenced of in the name of HS2.
This particular path, has been closed to facilitate the moving of the electricity cables seen in the photo. Hopefully, when all the dust has settled, the foot path will be reinstated. According to the official HS2 map (LINK) there will be a new foot bridge erected to cross the line which is part of phase two towards Leeds.
Today’s walk was a little circuitous but I managed to clock up another six miles.
The progress towards the 1,000 mile target has slowed a bit lately and currently stands at 863 – just 137 miles to go.
