Walk Brum

I was out of the house a little earlier than usual, so treated myself to a slightly longer walk into work. Not the most scenic – not even close (sorry Saltley!).

As the long-running bin strike continues, it’s an all too common sight to see bin bags adorning the streets. What I did see, which some may find hard to believe was a working dustbin crew.

After work, due to not having to be back in time to pick up a grand-daughter, I was gifted with an extra hour or so to myself.

Back in 2016, I started a little project where I’d try to walk every street (and some canal tow paths, foot paths and tracks) within Birmingham. I had been looking at my progress earlier in the day so decided to resurrect the project but visiting a few roads in the Small Heath area of Birmingham.

A mile and a half walk from work, along the Grand Union, brought me to a road that I hadn’t traversed before. Armed with a little map that I’d prepared earlier, I walked up and down some of the lesser visited byways of Brum. Here are some of the ‘highlights’ …

The Marlborough
Central Jamia Mosque

Now, this shop name – Genius !

I managed to clock up another eight miles before jumping a bus to take me home.

I have been plotting all my Walk Brum walks onto a Google map that looks something like this …

The zoomable, full detail, map can be found HERE.

Although today was only to have been four miles, I ended up walking eleven taking the grand total to 516 miles.
