After the high mileage weekend, today is, deservedly, an easy day.

Starting off with the usual two miles along the canal from Saltley to work.

Post work, I decided on a slightly different route twixt work and the bus stop outside of The Sportman Pub.

It’s very difficult devising a scenic route between Digbeth and Saltley without utilising the Grand Union canal. I didn’t manage it today even with a little bit of canal !

I started with the 161 yard long Curzon Street Tunnel (they used to build tunnels in yards).

Technically the tunnel is six conjoined bridges carrying six railway lines.

After a couple of locks, the canal was left behind as I crossed the busy inner ring road (I had to wait ages for the lights to change).

By zig-zagging up and down various side streets, bedecked with a myriad of factories (some with scenic seating areas), I finally got to The Sportsman after clocking up another couple of miles.

I have heard from the North Solihull parkrun organisers thanking me for my interest. A date for the trial run has still to be arranged.

I’ve shuffled my training plan slightly to swap my longish mid-week walk from Thursday to Wednesday mainly to fit in better with other commitments.
