Only four miles on the cards today and that was knocked off before work.
A steady stroll around the streets to Chelmsley Wood, Kingshurst and back home in time for a shower and shave before work.
I had to take the car as I had a bit of running around to do after work, hence the early morning outing.
One of the tasks I had for after work was to revisit the hospital for the results of last week’s MRI scan.
The conclusion – Osteoarthritis. Basically, the cartilage between the two main leg bones has worn away. Eventually, if it get much worse, I will need to have a replacement knee !
For now, a series of strengthening exercises have been prescribed.
Best of all, the Doc. said that walking was one of the best things that I could do 🙂
I’ve also signed up for the Daventry Challenge (LINK). It’s something a bit different being a timed event and on a Wednesday. The idea is to see how far can be covered in the allotted time of six hours.
The course is a 3.6 miles loop so to complete a marathon would involve doing eight laps. It’s a fairly flat course so that could be possible.
I have had a little app on my Fenix 5 for a while now called DWMap. With this app you can add a route to be followed. This video explains it quite well …
If I want to follow a particular route (during an event, perhaps) this is a great app. The main downside is that the activity is recorded as a Hike (or run, cycle or other) as opposed to a walk. It’s a small inconvenience to change to Walk in endomondo and Garmin Connect.
One new addition to the app, is the option of background maps.
This requires a paired smartphone and there is a slight lag to displaying the maps but could be useful.
