With the Bullock Smithy pencilled in for September and a few other events, including Charnwood, Corvedale and the Across Wales walk also on the agenda, I thought that it must be time to draw up some sort of training plan.
Adapting a plan that I’ve used before I’ve got all my walks sorted from now until October.
Of course things could and probably will change from the master plan – I see it as more of a guide than a cast in stone plan to be slavishly followed.
I’ll have to fit a few hills into the training as the Bullocks Smithy has a fair few of these.
Today’s walking comprised of the usual two miles into work on a frosty morning.
Recently, a couple of co-workers have been nipping out for a short walk around lunch-time. Today, I was invited to join them as long as I promised not to walk too fast!
We walked at an easy pace and covered around a mile and a half along the canal in around half an hour.
After Work, as I have only to do nine miles today, I decided on the most direct route. Firstly along the canal for almost a mile before hitting the streets. Up a bit of a hill (good for the BS training) before heading through Alum Rock. Here I joined the Cole Valley walk to Shard End and hence to home.
A total of ten miles for today, 231 for the month and, as it’s only January, 231 for the year.
