Firstly, it’s not my Birthday but that of my fifteen year old grand-daughter who we shall call K. But more of that later.
After consultation with the other half, I (we) have decided that I will not be partaking of the Equinox 24 event in October. Reasons include …
- Lack of crew
- Uncertainty over my knee
- Lack of training
Instead, I shall concentrate on the Rowbotham’s Round Rotherham (RRR) in October.
I have done the RRR three times previously and really enjoy this fifty mile walk which roughly follows the boundary of Rotherham along towpaths, tracks and roads.
Today, I started with the usual two miler into work. I had a delivery at work, namely a birthday pressie for K. Unfortunately, said pressie would not fit in my backpack. Fortunately, I found a rucksack at work (bought to carry a laptop around) into which the pressie would fit.
After work, I hauled on the borrowed pack and with little time set off to deliver.
Not the most scenic route, I walked straight along Bordesley Green and then Meadway passing through Small Heath and Lea Hall passing Heartlands Hospital en-route.
I arrived at K’s a tad after 18:00 having walked the 6.2 miles in 1:25, bringing the yearly total up to 173 miles.
After seeing all her presents and having the obligatory slice of cake, we bid her farewell.
