After my walk to Portmeirion and the resulting blistered heels, one of today’s tasks was to track down some Compeed (other blister plasters are available).
Officially a Rest Day, we took a leisurely drive to Barmouth where we partook of a little Geocaching before locating a chemist and blister plasters which were promptly applied – ahhh, that’s better!
Oddly, I had covered about fifty miles in my new inov8 shoes with absolutely no problems until yesterday. Further investigation has acquitted the shoes but the socks have been found guilty and will be locked up!
After a trip to Llanberis we returned to base giving me time for a last walk or run around Ynys. With my knee still giving me some gyp, I went for the lower impact option. After my muddy encounter a few days ago, I stayed away from the river’s edge and sauntered on and off the Wales Costal Path.
Somehow, I still managed to get muddy!
After a shower, we spent a while looking for a nice pub serving some decent food (a bit of a tradition of ours – good meal out on the last day of a holiday). After some searching we discovered The Grapes in Maentwrog. It’s in the Good Beer Guide and it even has a model railway in the bar. The food has excellent.
Up, packed and on the road before ten.
Back home, I managed a seven mile walk to Coleshill and back in the evening.
