Sunday Stroll

Legs are a little achey today after yesterday’s parkrun – but not too bad, not bad at all, really.
Still on nights, I decided that I’d walk into work this evening and chose a route along the Birmingham Fazeley canal.

By the time I’d reached the canal at The Tyburn House pub it was getting dark so I donned my head-torch as I turned from the Chester Road onto the towpath.

The walk into Birmingham along the canals was uneventful and I managed an acceptable nine miles in two hours and four minutes. Tomorrow, I’ll walk about a mile and a half to Saltley from where I’ll catch the bus back home.

I’ve got my new shoes to pick up from the Post Office tomorrow. Having a rest days tomorrow (apart from my ‘commute’ to the bus stop), I’ll have to wait until Tuesday before I can try the new footwear out in anger with a little two miler.

The full plan for next week is …

I finish my long stint of nights on Wednesday morning, so will head for home and bed for a few hours. Depending on how tired I am and hence how much sleep I’ll need, I’ll either run/walk to The Griffin for lunch or leave it for an evening session!

Thursday, my good lady and I shall be heading for a much deserved break in North Wales, staying in a cottage between Porthmadog and Harlech. I’ll have a short run from the cottage Thursday morning and then possibly drive down to Dolgellau for parkrun on Saturday. Sunday, I’m down for a ten mile walk, perhaps I can pick somewhere about ten miles away and the other half could meet me there before going on somewhere else. All in all, nothing too strenuous but a gradual return to exercise and the re-introduction of some running.
