Back to Work
My other half had to attend her work’s Christmas Party so I wouldn’t be seeing her tonight before work. This meant that I could leave for work a bit earlier – early enough for a pre-work stroll.
I took my normal journey to work but stopped off at Hockley Heath. With head-torch alight, I made my way to the Stratford Canal and headed East.
I descended 20 locks which form part of the Lapworth Locks flight before taking a short arm which links the Stratford and Grand Union canals at Kingswood.
A short section, northbound, on the Grand Union brought me to the Old Stratford Road to complete a loop, returning me to the Stratford canal and the home leg.
Nothing too exciting but a bit more interesting than what would have been 16 laps at work.
Back at the car, 6 miles after setting off and then a short drive to work.
While researching for this blog, I found an excellent website from where I nicked the map. The Canal & River Trust website (LINK) has, amongst other things, a searchable map showing the canal network detailing bridges, locks and towpaths. This has been added to my favourites.
