After going shopping with my mom, shopping with my wife and getting my hair cut, it was gone 6 before I managed to get out for a walk.
It was dark so it was on with the headtorch for some night-time walking.
Across the M6 and M42 and within 15 minutes I was passing through the neighbouring village of Water Orton. I crossed the ancient packhorse bridge which is currently closed to traffic due to a close encounter with a truck.
The normally busy, Water Orton lane, on the far side of the bridge, was strangely quiet and although the bridge has only been closed for a month, nature was already starting to re-claim the tarmac.
My headtorch flashed indicating that the batteries were about to expire. Not having been in the Scouts, I was not prepared but luckily the remainder of my walk was well illuminated.
I clocked up another 7.7 miles at an average speed of 4.3 mph.
