Stetchford

Up with the larks and drove Sue to work in Moseley.

Clicked the Garmin and started my walk home via Sparkhill and Greet before following alongside the River Cole to The Ackers ( this was part of the Birmingham Canal Canter – but in reverse ).

A short stretch of canal and a noisy walk before crossing the Coventry Road to pick up the path running next to The Cole.

The new path

On reaching Stetchford, I noticed some work going on to the left of the lakes ( I usually walk on the right ) and at the far end I noticed a sign explaining the works. Apparently, it’s going to be a new cycle / walk way, I suppose to join up with the Cole Valley cycle / walkway on the other side of the roundabout which I took towards Shard End.

Another mile or so and I crossed Cole Hall Lane before leaving the Cole to cut through Shard End and Castle Bromwich and finally get home – nine miles in two hours.

The walk felt easy enough so apart from a few snuffles, I seem to be over my recent illness.

Off to bed now for a few hours before the start of a stint of four night shifts.

I’m hoping to get a few short walks in after work most mornings and a walk from Moseley next Monday morning.

I’m also looking at a hilly walk next week, perhaps Malvern.
