Gear Update

I have recently purchased a few items for the walk…

I have bought  a couple of external battery packs to keep the iPhone5 going.
I intend to track the walk, provide live updates, listen to my banging tunes and answer any incoming calls during the walk.
The battery in the iPhone has a capacity of 1,440mAh which with what I want to do will probably not last too long.
The batteries that I have bought are 10,000mAh each and I have two so I should be able to keep the phone running all through the challenge.
I’m planning on swapping over at the 50km point.

After reading many reviews, I’ve splashed out on the osprey kestral 38. This is reportedly, very comfortable with many pockets for all the nick-nacks that may be needed en-route.

It has a built-in rain cover, hydration sleeve, pockets in the hip belt and many other hidey-holes.

I shall be testing this in the next few day and shall report back.

Last weekend, I bought a pair of Scarpa Spark trail running shoes.

These were well reviewed inTrail Running magazine with a wide fit and good cushioning.

So far, I have walked about 35 miles in them without any problems.

As with the other kit, I shall report back as I try these things out.
